Hmm, tough question. This isn't only happening with Pentax. I have an old F90X Nikon that could not work with many new lenses, and I have a dumb and slow F80 (real dumb!) which won't work with manual focus lenses. Maybe Pentax sacrifices some compatibility to save some $$$ and put newer features into such a compact body. I have to admit also that I don't really like changing aperture using the camera body dial. I prefer the aperture ring. But this is the trend, and Pentax is the last among the big four in taking to this direction. So I guess sometimes we really have to move on. I'm saying that *ist is perfect, but I dare to compare it to F75 or any Rebels at the same price. So marketing-wise, Pentax got itself a winner. That's what matters to them.

How about pre-A compatibility? Can't be that hard or that expensive. Kostas
