Hmm, tough question. This isn't only happening with Pentax. I have an
old F90X Nikon that could not work with many new lenses, and I have a
dumb and slow F80 (real dumb!) which won't work with manual focus
lenses. Maybe Pentax sacrifices some compatibility to save some $$$ and
put newer features into such a compact body. I have to admit also that I
don't really like changing aperture using the camera body dial. I prefer
the aperture ring. But this is the trend, and Pentax is the last among
the big four in taking to this direction. So I guess sometimes we really
have to move on. I'm saying that *ist is perfect, but I dare to compare
it to F75 or any Rebels at the same price. So marketing-wise, Pentax got
itself a winner. That's what matters to them.
