Really? I would have thought it would be a dumb idea for Pentax to put
out a 35mm style DSLR - full frame or not - at (the dreaded) 'pro level'.
It simply will not sell.

You make a Pentax version of the 1Ds and it simply will not sell because
it doesn't have the right range of lenses behind it, and nobody shooting
Canon or Nikon already is going to switch over. It would sell to rich
Pentaxians only.

However, make a medium format-style 645 DSLR aimed at the Mario Testinos
and it will sell. Mario Testino doesn't want a 1Ds to shoot his digital
celeb portraits, he wants a 645D and he and every other mario Testino out
there would buy it and use it.

It's not running before you can walk, it's aiming at an existing market.

(running, ducking)

Cheers,
  Cotty
