That's because warranty service is usually provided by the official
importer or distributor.  Go around them to avoid paying their prices,
and they aren't going to provide warranty service that you didn't pay for.

In bona-fide cases (such as when travelling outside your home country)
you can usually get the warranty to be honoured.
