your monitor isn't calibrated and unless you are using an application with color management, you aren't going to get good results, especially if you print. the gamma difference also will have an effect. there's a fairly short list of PC image editing applications doing proper color management and aiding you in basic setup for calibrating your monitor. Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are the big two. Corel Photopaint is the main other one. all the others i have worked with may do color management, but don't provide any aid in calibration.
