Seems the simplest approach is to acknowledge that only a small percentage of viewers are using Macs. So either most users will see your pictures poorly or you can make them look proper on a PC and then only a small percentage (exact ratio could be argued) will see them poorly.
It surely would have been nice of Bill Gates to pick the common standard in the beginning.
