the Gartner group aren't financial analysts. these Japanese ones are the ones working for the Japanese funds that invest in Japanese companies. what they decide, the money does, whatever the company does technically. the only two companies with upward revisions of digital camera sales for 2004 are Canon, Sony, and Casio. i checked the top 10's quarterly reports after reading the news article. the other 7 have unchanged or downward revisions. the alternative is to accept that Pentax is going to drop out of the SLR camera business in 3 years.
