Hello Shel,

While I certainly understand what you are saying, I would have to say
that your terminology is different than most.  I think a portait is
what you would call a "flattering, nicely lit picture of someone."

Something that goes deeper might be more akin to a "study" or some
such.  Most of the buying public in the US would walk into a studio -
Mall or not - to get a Portrait done - and it would not be what you
are calling a portrait.  Most of the advertising in the yellow pages for
Portrait photography would not be what you are describing.

Obviously, to create something that truly speaks of the person, and
gives us some insights, is a lot more time and energy to produce and
more than likely, would include some location work to get the
context right.
