Goo Gone is the beter product.
Put it on the glue, rub around and let it sit quite wet for 15 minutes.
With paper toweling, wipe across the old "glue."
Keep turning to new paper, and eventually it will come off.
Put a little Goo Gone on the paper towel and rub. It will remove the residue very well.

And the top has gotten stickier and stickier. (I peel off the extra glue when it cools off and dries).

There's a citrus-based product called "Goo Gone" that might help you
get rid of both the label and the adhesive. Just don't let it get on
the contacts and such. I doubt it would hurt anything, but you never
know. There's another product called "Goof Off" but it's some sort of
aromatic petrochemical and might attack the plastic of the device.
