Hi,

Along the lines of the Yashica that you mention, I've owned (in the very
distant past) a couple of Praktica (I think they were) LTL's. Big,
heavy, inelegant, but built like a tank. The metal focal plane shutter
was not too quiet, and I'm sure did cause a bit of vibration, but it was
sturdy.

It did have mirror lock up (unlike my Spotmatics), although you did have
to take off the lens and push up the mirror with your finger - that's how
they said to do it in the manual.

Match-needle, stop-down, centre-weighted metering, with DOF preview and
self timer. And best of all, they took M42 lenses, so a student could
get a cheap body, and load up on Super Taks!

Like you, mine were both stolen, otherwise I'd probably still use them!

Any student who could find one would find it great for their use, IMHO.

regards,
frank
