One camera I don't think anyone mentioned was the Yashica TX
Electro-X.  This camera, (built like a brick)used Pentax screw-mount
lenses, had mirror lock-up, DOF preview, self-timer, and
center-weighted metering.  In fact, DOF preview was pretty much
mandatory, as it *did use stop-down metering with over/under exposure
LEDs.
This was my camera for almost 25 years, until a burglary (with
subsequent insurance reimbursement) allowed me to buy my first Pentax
camera and lenses.  I couldn't tell you how many backpacking and
fishing trips it went on.
