when my batteries run low, it just stops working, although it may die in the
middle of exposure, in which case, i have to take the batteries out and then
replace them. this runs the risk of corrupting the images on the card.

i have done some experiments with my batteries and various chargers and have
come to the conclusion that with high capacity (2000mAh+) that most chargers
are not charging a set batteries to full capacity, just a few out of the
set. using a set charged this way eventually leads to one or more weak
batteries and they will stop working far sooner than a fully charged set. i
recently bought a rapid charger that does each battery individually even
though i insert a set of 4 and that improves the reliability of the low
battery indicator on the camera.
