Antonio, As I'm sure you're aware, the rumor is that Pentax will have a more entry level model DSLR out before the end of the year. How many cameras does it take to make an acceptable line? Three? Five? When Pentax came out with their first camera with a meter, did they have a whole line right out of the gates or did they have one and build on that? What about auto focus? That ME-f wasn't much of a start, was it? I think the *ist D, stupid name not withstanding, is a pretty good first attempt. Still, using your logic, nobody should ever buy the best camera in a brands' line, because there isn't anything to upgrade to. And lets not forget that we're in the digital whelm now. There's ALWAYS a newer-better model just around the bend. Don't like what's on offer? Spend a year on another hobby and when you come back to this one, there'll be a whole new crop of offerings.
