I understand that bokeh is very hard to get right in many zoom designs. Leica and Zeiss don't seem to make many zooms, which might help with their above average bokeh.
I don't think it's a zoom or prime issue (bright-ring bokeh at least), but I have primes only now if that's what you implied.
