While not familiar with the Pacific Imaging scanner, I've used a few others before deciding on the Nikon. I'd pretty much agree with Mark wrt his choices, although I think the Nikon does a somewhat better job than the Minolta if you're looking for "ultimate" sharpness and work with conventional B&W film.
