at one time, the Olympus and Canon camera divisions were making lots of money with their P&S film cameras. Olympus used to be the top selling brand in the US in terms of number of cameras sold. as to whether Pentax's marketing strategy of letting the camera division's remaining branding power sell more lenses for CD/DVD players and endoscopes, Pentax still thinks there is something to be gained by it.
