Hi all, Sorry for what was probably quite misinformation in some form. I was thinking in terms of digital compacts which have an orientation sensor that automatically tags it into the EXIF information. I'm not sure whether the ist D has the same feature, so the information may or may not be relevant.
Also, a friend of mine just reported that apparently while Irfanview reads and rotates, it's just for viewing (useful in slideshows I guess); it doesn't save the transformation.. Bummer.. However, for unbloated utlities which do the same thing, jhead does the job (Anders- you're still it!)
