Well no, it's not *lens* specific - it's focal range specific, which
allows the option of many lens choices. I just did a quick count of
Albano's favorite lens listing, and about 30% of those who responded
say that their ~favorite~ lens is one that covers some part of the
70mm - 150mm range. That's a nice, substantial percentage. Add to
that that only about 1/4 of PDML subscribers have cast their vote,
and extrapolate the figures to the full list, then something like
120 people might have a ~favorite~ lens in that focal range.

Now, add the number of people who have a lens in that range,
although it's not a favorite, and we're moving right up to a fairly
large percentage of list members with an appropriate lens.

Considering the number of list members who discuss zoom lenses here,
and the greater and greater number who buy and use them for purposes
of convenience or economy, and the fact that more cameras today are
sold with zooms as a standard lens, I would not be surprised if
there are about the same number of people with a zoom or prime that
covers some part of that range as there are people here with a
conventional normal lens in the 50mm - 55mm range.

I agree that if we were to define the gallery as you indicate, it
might appear to be more democratic, but I suspect that the number of
submissions wouldn't increase by any noticeable degree.

Chris, no matter what one does, or how one phrases it, there's
always the possibility that some people may be excluded.

Well, this has been a delightful conversation, but I think I'm about
ready for a Friday Fondle of one of my LX. Their meters are ringing
with all the talk about them, yet no one here is paying them any
mind. Why, they're even starting to focus their attention on the
Leicas, which has never happened before.
