My understanding is that Adobe don't intend forcing anyone to change their
setup/mechanics/algorithms to shoot in DNG mode, just as film printers
didn't ever try to make everyone shoot 35mm or 6x6 or any other of the
formats that they equipped themselves to deal with.
I _can_ see the merit of taking anyone's RAW file and converting it to a
standard, more economical file size for processing and storage. Has anyone
else noticed that PS CS does not allow you to save an adjusted DNG file in
the same format? You can choose any of the others (PSD, TIFF, etc): so the
implication is that Adobe understand very well the desire/need to keep a RAW
(or near-enough RAW) original intact. I suppose the loss of some data from
the original PEF files will be corrected in Version 1.0.1?
Has anyone compared another camera manufacturer's EXIF data with the
pre-converted data?
