I have to concur on the image quality of the DA 16-45. Some time back, the FA*24/2 was a mainstay for me. I was needing a wider lens and this zoom seemed to fill the niche nicely. After shooting it some, I compared it to my FA*24 and found that on the *istD, it easily held it's own against the 24 prime. It is certainly slower than the 24, but my need for wider focal lengths along with the 24mm focal length, coupled with only shooting stopped down a ways, the FA*24 has been sent on to a good home where it will be utilized. It's a great lens, but don't underestimate the DA 16-45 on the *istD - a very powerful combination.
