Don't forget, m42 at one time was called "universal mount" - because it was. Then when everyone went bayonet, they brought out their own unique mounts. Can't have folks swapping lenses now, can we? Once you've bought into a "system", there's no going back! Wouldn't it have been nice if everyone would have got together to decide on a universal bayonet mount?
