Right.  And, they never were, either.  

The Spotmatic may have been used by some pros (I think it was second
in 35mm SLR preference for pros in the mid-to-late sixties), but by
far the Nikon F system was number one.

The Spotmatic wasn't designed or marketed as a pro camera.  The Nikon was.
