While making greyscle photos of fruits and vegetables is a great exercise,
and can yield some wonderful results, this attempt seems to be lacking in
detail and contrast.  Maybe that's what you wanted.  If not, perhaps a
visit to Edward Weston's photography is in order, as might be a brush up on
the use of contrast filters for B&W photography.  I also think the film
choice is wrong for the subject.  I applaud the attempt, however.  Bravo!
for breaking out of the color-dslr-macrophotography mold ;-))
