I should confess that I probably take as many pictures (as
opposed to burning thru frames to make sure I got it) with
my Olympus Epic Stylus 80. It fits in a shirt pocket, the
lens is good, I trust the metering and the people I'm with don't
have to wait around while I fiddle with gadgets and meters
and lights,; and they can use it to -- otherwise there would
never be any memory-type pictures with me in them.
My first "real" camera was a shoe-box type Brownie with a
fixed lens and a single speed shutter and I probably went from
ages 6 to 15 before I realized that a camera could have adjustments.
As someone pointed out, Kodak's first "You push the button, we'll
do the rest" came preloaded; you pointed and shot, and when
it was all used up, you sent it back to Kodak for processing and
reloading. Just like today's disposables. Polaroid has made
millions on the same concept. Most of its cameras and films
have been no-brainers.
I've got my Pentaxes and my 6cms and my 4x5 for serious
shooting, but my walking around camera is still a no-brainer
Olympus that fits in a shirt pocket.
