why not?

In general, I do not think I would ever buy ANY digital camera
used, DSLR or not. Too many possible glitches that you might
not discover until too late... I would rather go with new and
warranteed with a digital....

No, $500 is 500GBP, unless you actually buy across and smuggle it
through.

In your intro you mentioned used cameras. Is the question about used
DSLRs?

Unless I know the previous owner I would not touch them with a
bargepole, on the assumption that people just fire away with a digital
camera. There will be plenty of worn parts in there.

I may be wrong, I usually am.
