I read the actual story. I was just being tongue-in-cheek, using hyperbole to make a point, all the while attempting to make a bit of humour. I don't know about the US of A, but here in Canada, when a guy is found with weapons covered in blood, that's pretty much enough to at least hold him for 24 hours to investigate if he's been involved in a crime. Of course, after 24 hours, he can file a writ of habeous corpus, and be released. But the cops can always think of something to charge him with, even if it's "having a bad hair day", to keep him in longer while they investigate. I know this was at a border crossing, but I can't believe that the crossing guards couldn't come up with something to keep him while they called the cops to come get him.
