I said this before but will reiterate, at this point I WILL NOT
pay extra for better build quality in ANY digital camera. They are
pseudo-disposables
IMHO at this point. I would rather get a much lower priced lower build
quality camera than pay for something I don't/won't need as digital
cameras
are still like 5 year items at the very most it seems to me. Its not
like
film cameras where you might keep and actually use it 20-30 years.....
( some of my screwmount cameras and lenses are like 30-40 years old and
I still use them. Will anybody be using todays DSLRs in 30-40years?
Maybe,
but I seriously doubt it...)

Without a doubt the D is of much better build quality than either Canon
Rebel but cost $500 more.  The Rebels are priced slightly lower or equal
to the Ds (at least around here) and offer some more features such as a
battery grip with vertical release.  however, the Ds wins hands down
with viewfinder and ergonomics in my opinion.
