The speed of the flash card will have an effect up to the point at which the camera's bus speed in the io interface to the flash card surpasses the speed of the card. On a *ist DS, this happens at somewhere between a 45x and 60x card ... slower cards are noticeably slower to write than a 45x, but a 45x and a 60x are nearly impossible to tell apart. Cards faster than 60x write no faster than the 60x.
