Ahh OK, neither of which I'm familiar with performance wise in conjunction with 
the Pentax DSLRs. Given your problem I would venture to suggest that you are 
seeing bloom which may have been exacerbated by CA, flash isn't going to 
provide anywhere near the contrast range that scenes outside may contain such 
as a back-lit tree branch.

I'm, not a great fan of the manual lens work-around so I've retired all but one 
lens without an "A" position on the aperture. The A50/1.4 (like the FA) does 
work very well though.
