Yes, the *istD can definitely show f/7.1

You've reminded me to check with Sigma and Pentax about the likely 'true'
metering.
Sigma were very helpful, but were unable to give a definitive answer
(suggested probably metering at f/8
Pentax were extremely unhelpful - abrupt to the point of rudeness, actually,
when I mentioned that my query concerned a Sigma lens, and flat out refused
to discuss the matter.
(how to win friends and influence future purchases, eh?)
