Herb....
SONY ?! ... H.P.?
These are among the "best" names?
I wonder how these cameras are being judged?
I don't think they are being judged by serious amateurs or professionals.
Also, where is Pentax in the over $600 category? Where is Konica/Minolta?
Sigma? Leica?
I noticed that in many of the "lesser" price categories, the traditional
camera companies often didn't finish near the top of the list. There's no
way I'd more satisfied with a H.P. camera than a Pentax, Nikon, Canon, etc.
The traditional camera makers know what makes a good camera, and there is
more to a good camera than the computer/consumer electronics companies
realize. These other companies only know what's popular with computer geeks
and total amateurs who don't know anything at all about cameras or photography.
Quite frankly, I'm stunned. I could understand Pentax ranking beneath one
of the other traditional makers of fine cameras, but to be beaten by the
likes of Casio, Samsung, and Hewlett-Packard is absolutely outrageous. None
of these companies make anything as good as my *istDS. I have a feeling
that the Pentax point-and-shoot cameras are also better than their
point-and-shoot cameras.
Sorry, but I simply can't think of anything clever and happy to say about
this situation.
take care,
Glen
