Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary definition of obsolete:
a: no longer in use
b: of a kind or style no longer current

Technical or functional obsolescence:

1. When a new, more functional product or technology supersedes the old

2. The product becomes useless due to changes in other products

The lenses are obsolete whether you want to admit it or not.
