I don't know what Nikon's saying, I'm sure some would say that's what
they're saying... :)
In the end it's the image that counts and different tools have different
strengths. Different people have different needs (or wants).
How's that for equivocating?

So I guess you feel that's what Nikon is saying with their 12mp APS-C
digital?

I guess that sort of sums my feelings. I agree with Paul that I haven't
found 6 MP inadequate, but then what have I to compare it to? Suppose we
took a photo and wanted to crop it by some factor for display or printing.
Assuredly a 12, 16 etc., megapixel camera will allow this to be done
with a higher degree of (dare I say resolution) quality, than a 10MP
camera, or than a 6MP camera.
Not preaching to the choir, I know we all know this.
So basically if Pentax comes out with a 10MP APS-C DSLR as their flagship
they will be saying in the eyes of most of the world, "we are not even
attempting to stay up with our competitors when it comes to non-MF
DSLR's".
It may be a good camera, it may produce excellent results, but in the eyes
of comparison shoppers and in the eyes of professionals who buy their
equipment to make a living, it will be lacking.

Yes, its a good start, but still lands Pentax in second/third place to
the others. I guess Pentax has dug themselves into APS sensor and I will
have to wait and see if the 645D comes to being.
Kind regards
