Barry,

Such is not the case.  You can shoot at any aperture you desire.  Since I'm
new to the DS, and not very good at explaining all the details (although I
know ~how~ to use the older lenses on these cameras and do so frequently)
I'll leave the explanation to others better skilled in that regard.
