There are not "nonsensical terms", these are measurements of camera
performance.
USM is just a *name*. Complaining that Pentax doesn't have it is just
silly. I think I'll quote Tom, here
USM is an autofocus method that Pentax doesn't use. I don't think it's fair
to say that they're behind. They use a different method. You might as well
say that Canon and Nikon are behind in Super Multi Coating.
