The D can be set to *not* shut itself down (and mine has been set that way since I got it, so I don't know if its shooting mode would reset if it were to shut itself down. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "shooting mode.") Can the DS not be set to stay on until specifically switched off by user?
