The 50th anniversary of the Asahiflex is a major event. The Asahiflex was the first
japanese slr and a Pentax as well. They would be stupid if they didn't take any
advantage of the fact.
50 is L in roman numbers. If the camera is called Pentax L it will both hint at the
anniversary and give away its relationship to the LX. Also, L hints at the Limited
lenses. L may also stand for luxury.

I do believe that an LX with AF will be a totally different beast from the MZ-S or
anything else. It will certainly be retro. There are limits of what you can do and
still label it as an LX with AF. I do not for a minute believe that it should be taken
litteral; I seriously doubt that they will litterally put AF in an LX. Its almost
certainly a brand new camera thats unmistakenly LX-like and designed around the same
philosophy.
Whats constitutes an LX is built, sealing, interchangeable viewfinders and motor
drives, OTF metering, large mirror and large viewfinder coverage, true mirror lock,
batteryless operation and reasonable compact measurements. You can't remove too much
from this and still letting it come out as an LX with AF. My bet is that
interchangeable viewfinders and mechanical shutterspeeds will be omitted. However, if
they choose to include manual film transport and mechanical shutter, toghether with AF
and up to date electronics, then they definitely have made a classic.

I feel confident that the Limited camera is not released yet. I cannot imagine that
the Limiteds are intended for other cameras than the upcoming LX(II?); there must be
Limits on how many upper end bodies Pentax will be making.
