I always output from ACR at 144 meg, 16 bit. After processing, I convert to 8-bit, 72 meg, which is perfect for printing and just right for most of my clients. Pics downsized for the web seem to look exactly the same whether I start from native size or from this large upsized file.
FWIW, the agencies I deal with want files about 50 MB in size or slightly larger. Submissions must be in 8-bit TIFF with LZW compression. I have my workflow set up to generate files no smaller than 50 MB so I won't accidentally submit a file that's too small. Of course that's 50 MB before compression, which works out to between 12 and 18 MB after compression.
