Shooting jpeg is sort of like shooting negtives and sending them out to one of those places that make slides from them, but they throw away the negative.

Shooting raw is like shooting negatives and keeping them. You and still make jpegs from them, use a batch process and and it is not much trouble, but you still have your negatives if you want to make that exhibition print next year sometime. The price is an extra step and a lot more storage space.

At least that is how I view it.
