I have been using this lens for several years and I like it very much. I
have not seen the Pentax lens you talk of. As you have probably read the
construction seems a bit light and I am not sure I would use it for heavy
hiking or other hard usage, but it has functioned flawlessly for me. It is
very sharp and the 49mm aux lens works real nice on my 50mm Chinon normal
lens with 49mm screw in filter. Makes the 50mm a macro as well... I use it
as a slightly long normal lens, portrait lens, as well as macro. I bought
it new from B&H for $109 USD if my memory serves me.

Subject: Vivitar 100/3.5 Macro

Hello,

Does anyone have experience with the Vivitar 100/3.5 Macro lens?
I have found many positive opinions especially considering its
price. As I know it is identical (the optical formula) to the Pentax
FA 100/3.5. What do you think about this lens? Is the Pentax version
worth additional 60$ (and the Vivitar comes with a life-size adapter) ? Any
compatibility problems?

Thanks in advance

Pawel
