The Yahoo group I moderate is specifically on the MZ-S Digital. What little
information exists on the Net is collected there for your perusal. I'd
appreciate any further info. There is a link on there to an article on the
the Philips CCD (yes - it is a CCD, NOT a CMOS) as used in a camera back.
The CCD has already been used in commercial equipment although I have not
been able to track down any reviews of its performance.
The Yahoo group is:

re CCD vs CMOS - CMOS has a way to go before it can truly stand on an equal
footing quality-wise with a CCD. However, improvements are quite rapid. The
advantage of CMOS is the ability to have the detector and DSP all on one
chip along with significantly lower power consumption.
I hope Pentax is going to do something about this soon. While I don't see
this camera as vapourware (at least they have demonstrated a fully working
example), the lack of noise is becoming worrying. Maybe just another example
of Pentax keeping the marketting mouth shut when a little bit of PR wouldn't
hurt once in a while. Unfortunately the silence has just generated plenty of
ill-founded, baseless rumours (eg: the camera has been "set back" or is "no
longer being considered"). I've seen and heard nothing to indicate any of
this is true. The CCD exists, the camera exists. I leave it to you to draw
your own conclusions.
