Yes, I'm aware that there's always something worse somewhere else but,
thank you, for me its quite bad enough. Its quality is way below
everything I've ever seen from Pentax.
Sorry but the Schneider label on this lens to me is like putting a
Bentley badge on a Sang Yong.

I found the 18-55 to be reasonably sharp and contrasty at f5.6 and beyond, it was a little soft wider open. For consumer-grade glass (And a kit lens to boot) mine was a superb performer, easily the equal of most good 28-105's, and nearly as nice as the 28-75 f2.8 I ended up replacing it with (More useful range for me, I shoot mediam tele to slightly wide, or really wide, the 18-24mm range on digital is not one I use often).
