I had to go looking for my 28-70 f4 just for comparison. There is a bit of wobble on the D FA 50, but it's nothing compared to the 28-70 (which I think is a good lens for the price). I haven't me an autofocus lens that has no wobble at all.

If we are looking only of barrel wobbliness at full extension the 50 is about the same as my FA100 2.8 macro.
