You're right, I used wrong description ;-) Many pro cameras have outer casing made of polycarbonate, often strenghtened by carbon fibre - look at Canon EOS-1n, Minolta 9xi or Pentax 645n. Outer shell of ist Dx cameras is made of polycarbonate too and it proves to be durable too.
