My *ist-D works just fine with the DA14, 16-45, etc., and I'm sure Paul Stenquist has used the 12-24 on his *ist-D with no problems. The only thing I can think of that won't work just as well with the newer lenses is the Pentax Photo Browser software - the only program that shows you the name of the lens in use - which works from a lens name table. An update for that table, including the newer lenses, would certainly be a nice gesture. But that's software (which runs on your computer), not firmware (which runs on your camera).
