I can confirm this in a big way. Simply outstanding.

I *might* have one for sale soon (in beautiful condition, BTW) if I get
the MZ-S jones bad enough ;-)

Oh contraire! It's lightning fast and doesn't seem to put any additional
focusing demands on the camera; you just have to use a reasonably fast lens
with it so that the effective aperture isn't smaller than f/5.6. I generally
use it with my 300/2.8 but I've also used it with a K50/1.4.
Because focusing takes place within the teleconverter itself, it has the
disadvantage that it costs you some focusing range: If you have the main
lens physically set to infinity, you won't be able to autofocus nearly as
close as usual. You can compenste for this by manually focusing the lens
in a bit. In practice you keep the main lens set to focus at a distance
that's "in the ball park" for the subject you're photographing and let the
TC and autofocus fine tune it. Not as convenient as a true AF lens with
standard AF teleconverter but it becomes second nature almost instantly
(and worked brilliantly for me shooting superbikes at 160 mph a week or
so ago) and it does have some advantages...
The advantage is that you can combine the focusing mechanism of the main
lens with that of the teleconverter to focus much closer than you would
be able to otherwise. Again, not as good as a true macto lens but very convenient
when you're travelling light.
I think the 1.7x teleconverter/AF adapter s a nifty item and recommend you
buy one before they start appearing on eBay with *RARE* in the description
and the price starts going up. I'm betting it'll happen eventually.
