i used that 1.7 converter when i had a sf1n a long time ago. i put it on with a 85 1.8 lens. you set the lens to infinity and let the teleconverter do the focusing. i don't remember how it worked with regards to close focusing.

This is the only thing on his list that I can attest to. The 1.7X AF T/C works very well optically. Not as good as the 2X-S I recently got on ebay, but better than the 2X Kenko 7-element T/C I have. The A/F part, though, isn't a cure all. It doesn't instantly turn the manual lens into an autofocus one you don't have to dink with. What I mean is that it won't refocus the manual lens all the way from infinity to close focus. You have to prefocus the manual lens to get it within at least half of the focal range of the manual lens. So, when you're shooting things at or near the closest focus distance, you should prefocus the lens to (roughly) the lower half of the lens' focus range. That said, I really like it. :-) TTYL, DougF - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
