This would be great! With my wishful thinking, this has always long been
suspected. Also, recent interview with a Pentax executive suggested that
they have been doing something on the K-mount.
Crossing my fingers ! :-).

Hmmm. This possibility was discussed some time ago on dpreview. Some want it,
some of us (myself included) couldn't care less. But it brings up some
disturbing questions.

Will the new lenses still have the AF drive shaft so that they can be used on
older cameras?

Even if the new lenses do have the drive shaft, for how long will this be the
case? Will Pentax eventually drop the AF drive shaft, just as they dropped the
mechanical aperture linkage from many recent lenses?

Will some future body come along that would cause us to have to retire (or
manually focus) our F, FA, FAJ, DA, and D FA lenses bought in 2006 or earlier?

I am not encouraged given the way Pentax treated those of us who bought the D
and a bunch of CF cards. But what I have spent on CF cards is nothing compared
to what I have spent on autofocus lenses.
