Godfrey is right on that one. I'd be very surprised if a cable that
long would work.  The resistance of the cable may be getting too high
to get a reliable shutter firing, especially if  the camera was
designed for short cable releases.

'Course, I could be wrong, I haven't looked into it at any great detail.
