Mike,

I suspect that once you get the software sorted out, much of your bias  
against digital cameras will disappear. :-)

The prospect of using Pentax software would drive me back to film, too.

Do yourself a favour and get hold of Phase One Capture One LE.  Then see  
what you have been missing.
