Well, my FA* 200/2.8 arrived safe and sound and I was not charged any
taxes by Canada Customs, even though the package had a declared value of
$600 US (perhaps they misread the "$600" to be "$6.00"??). They have
nailed me for almost every other smaller purchase (except those less than
$60 US) before this. Go figure!

I have not burned any film with this lens yet but I really like how it
feels. It is nicely built and is a bit more compact than what I was
expecting. The glass on mine is in perfect condition however there are a
few small dust particles on the inner elements, though I doubt I'll notice
these in the final images.

Paul: I'd be very interested in seeing your comparisons of the 200/2.8
with and without the Tarmon 2x AF TC. I plan on shooting a comparison with
the SMC-F 1.7x AF adaptor and I would be glad to post the results. I've
used the 1.7x AF on a few occasions with my M200/4 and I do notice a
softening of the image on 4x6's. With the A70-210/4 (by the way, this is
an outstanding lens!) at 210mm I notice the softening to a larger degree,
and some "fringing". At shorter focal lengths these artifacts are much
less prevalent.

Bruce: I did consider getting the 1.4XL but I think I really need AF,
unless I use the combo on a manual focus body w/ split image screen. I am
finding that I have a difficult time focusing manually with the matte
screen in PZ-1p - in "fast" situations I have to rely on the AF focus
indicator. Then again, I am way overdue for a new set of glasses so maybe
this will become a non-issue once I get my eyes working right.

Regards,

Gerald
